Craig Marquis has achieved more in poker in several short years than many players will in a lifetime. Since starting to play in January 2007, Craig has cashed in four WSOP events and came to prominence as one of the “November Nine” with a Final table finish at the 2008 WSOP Main Event.
 
From Arlington in Texas, Craig’s initiation with poker began when he attended a New Year’s party in December 2006 hosted by friends including Full Tilt Poker pro David Benefield. The next day, he started playing with $100 on Full Tilt Poker and generated a bankroll of $1,000 by the end of January. After playing online over several months, his learning curve skyrocketed and he won over $30,000 in two WSOP events in June 2007, finishing 30th in the $1,000 No Limit Hold’em event and 34th in the $5,000 World championship Pot-Limit Hold’ em tournament.

Craig warmed up in the 2008 WSOP with an 18th place finish in the $1.5K No-Limit Hold‘ em Shootout. But it was the Main Event where Craig's rapid learning skills became evident as he outlasted a field of over 6,000 players in early July to land a place at the Final table as one of the November Nine. When play resumed 117 days later in November, Craig was eliminated early and finished the tournament in 9th place, taking home $906,266.

Craig’s future intentions are to play a lot more poker and continue his poker education as before. Having demonstrated in media interviews his very positive outlook on life, his interests outside of poker revolve around his family – and the new Audi S5 he bought the day after he returned home from qualifying for the Final table.
